There he joined the band Molly Cliff, later formed Sharon America, and ultimately Western Family. He played and recorded in Los Angeles, then moved to Portland, Oregon. After graduation, Kevin moved out west to pursue music. He graduated in the Class of 1990 from Northampton High School, in Northampton, MA. Kevin was born on Decemin Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, the son of the late John G. Portland - Kevin Colgan, 49, died on Thursday, Maat Maine Medical Center in Portland. Kevin is survived by his beloved son Will of Portland, OR his mother and step father, Molly and Bill Donovan of Scarborough a sister, Maureen Kirsch and her husband Stephen of Scarborough, his older brother John Colgan of Portland his younger brother Patrick Colgan and his wife Cara of Portland several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, John G. Although his talents were breathtaking, Kevin will be remembered most for his wonderful smile, his huge and loving heart, and the ease with which he seemed to make everyone around him feel valued and important. Everywhere he lived, he sought out the best fishing holes, where he was incredibly adept at catching trout. He worked as a chef in restaurants on both coasts, not only achieving culinary mastery, but also developing deep, lifelong friendships along the way. Beyond music, Kevin was passionate and accomplished as a cook and a fisherman. He was an exceptionally talented guitar player with a beautiful voice, but it was his capacity to weave poetry with melody, harmony and innovative chord progressions that defined his songwriting.
